Resilience Framework CYP

Mary Hinton

Mary Hinton

HeadStart Advisor and former headteacher

I was a classroom teacher and school leader for over twenty years before moving to work with young offenders and then children in care. It was when I became Head of the Virtual School for Children in Care and Care Leavers that I met Angie Hart and discovered the Resilience Framework.

My service was lucky enough to be part of a project she was leading involving co-production with children in care, care leavers, and foster carers to produce a resilience resource. It was with great pride that I was able to launch this resource at a conference in Brighton in 2014 accompanied by a co-produced film and dance piece inspired by the framework.

Resilience Theory makes excellent sense to me, particularly in the world of multi-agency working. It is a model which transcends policy and keeps the individual in mind and involved.

Most recently I have become a HeadStart Advisor organising the support and development for 4 local authorities. It’s a great opportunity for me to become more involved in this exciting area of work and one where my own resilience is essential!
