Topic  Parents of the Revolution – Lisa Day, Brett Whitehead & Michaela Goodridge

Resources  The slides will follow shortly

Session Summary  ‘Parents of the Revolution’ began in 2018 as part of a whole town approach towards increasing resilience in Blackpool. Parents of the Revolution involves a variety of parents/carers from all walks of life who share a lived experience of mental health and wellbeing in young people; with a passion for changing systems and improving outcomes for Blackpool’s children and families.

Parents/carers are experts of their own situations and have been using their knowledge to co-deliver training, embed Resilient Therapy and speak at national events and campaign for change. This Resilience Forum focussed on some of this work and how they can continue to spread the Resilience Revolution across Blackpool and beyond.

Biography

Lisa Day is Parent Sessional Worker who started her journey with Resilience Revolution when ‘a family crisis turned her world upside down’. She now uses her lived experience and resilience knowledge to support other parents and professionals in the town.

Michaela Goodridge is Parent/Carer Engagement Lead for the HeadStart programme. She works alongside Brett and Lisa to ensure sustainability of Resilient Therapy for parents/carers and community in Blackpool.
